Gong was born in Shanghai, China, and raised in Montreal, Quebec, where he developed a deep appreciation for how cultural and linguistic diversity shape interactions with the legal system. Fluent in English, French, and Mandarin, he understands first-hand the challenges immigrant communities face when navigating complex legal processes.

With a strong foundation in both civil and common law traditions, Gong earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Montreal and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Osgoode Hall Law School. Gong was called to the bar in 2024 and began his legal career specializing in tax law where he honed his analytical skills and strategic negotiation tactics by participating in high-stakes settlements between the Federal Government and private enterprise.

Now practicing criminal defense, Gong applies that same analytical precision and strategic thinking to protect his clients’ rights. Drawn to the urgency of the courtroom, he works hard to give every client both a strong legal defense and an empathic understanding.
