Loui is the founder and principal of Dallas Criminal Defence. For more than 15 years he has defended individuals from the inner city and protected their rights.

Ilias Loui Dallas was born and raised in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough. Before becoming a lawyer, Loui was a Toronto, inner-city, high school teacher helping youths succeed. He left teaching after five years, to become a lawyer and take his vision of representative justice to a higher level. Loui graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2006, the same year it was ranked number one in Canada by Canadian Lawyer Magazine.

While in law school, Loui focused on social justice law and criminal defence law. He articled in criminal defence law, and was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2007. In 2008, Loui established Dallas Criminal Defence as The Voice of Urban Representation™. Loui takes pride in challenging the status quo, and has represented clients in many trials at both the Ontario and Superior Courts of Justice.

Noteworthy Results

 

2024

R. v. T.N. – Client charged with first degree murder in a public space. With associate, Steve Lee, succeeded in establishing the defence of NCR (Not Criminally Responsible) due to mental disorder. Client spared a life sentence in jail.

R. v. A.C. – Client charged with Attempted Murder in a familial context. Succeeded in establishing the defence of NCR (Not Criminally Responsible) due to mental disorder. Client spared several years in jail.

R. v. R.P. – Client charged with Robbery with Firearm in a street robbery. Highlighted significant weaknesses in the case. On the first day of the preliminary hearing all charges were withdrawn except for one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime which the client resolved for a conditional discharge (no criminal conviction).

R. v. A.T. – Client charged with Extortion, Voyeurism, Assault Bodily Harm, Assault, Failing to Comply with Recognizance, and Criminal Harassment. Demonstrated key weaknesses in the Crown’s case and negotiated for a plea to Assault and Criminal Harassment. Client received a conditional sentence (house arrest) and was spared serving his sentence in actual jail.

R. v. A.M. – Client charged with several Firearms Offences. Identified a breach of client’s s.8 Charter Rights (search and seizure). Used this breach to negotiate for the withdrawal of all charges except for one count of possessing a firearm and one count of violating a firearm prohibition order. Client spared several years in jail.

R. v. A.H. – Client charged with Choking, Assault x2, Forcible Confinement, and Uttering Threats in a domestic context. After participating in Crown and Judicial Pre-Trials and establishing serious problems with the case, secured a peace bond (upon signing a peace bond, charges were dropped).
