Steve grew-up in inner-city Toronto, yet attended high school at the prestigious University of Toronto Schools (UTS) for academically gifted students. He holds degrees from York University (Honours Bachelor of Arts) and the University of Western Ontario (LL.B.). Steve also pursued graduate studies in History at the University of Ottawa. Steve was a Commissioned Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and operated a small business in Toronto before returning to the practice of law.

Noteworthy Results

 

2024

R. v. T.N. – Client charged with first degree murder in a public space. With the head of the firm, I. Loui Dallas, succeeded in establishing the defence of NCR (Not Criminally Responsible) due to mental disorder. Client spared a life sentence in jail.

R. v. D.S. – Client charged with multiple fraud offences in the context of a moving company. Established several weaknesses in the case and all the charges were withdrawn on the day of trial.

R. v. A.A. – Client charged with several firearm, drug, and probation violation offences. Identified several problems in the case and charges were withdrawn.

R. v. J.H. – Client charged with possessing stolen property, obstructing police, and breaching probation. At pre-trial, it was established that the client was racially profiled and had not possessed stolen property. Therefore his corresponding detention was illegal, so all charges were dropped.

R. v. I.G. – Client charged with Choking, Assault, Assault Weapon, Uttering Threats, and Failing to Comply with Recognizances. Demonstrated several weaknesses in the allegations which enabled the client to resolve the assault and fail to comply with charges for a conditional discharge (not a criminal conviction) with all remaining charges withdrawn.
